Moloi was enjoying a quiet night with a friend when four intruders entered her home in Strubens Valley, northwest of Joburg, last week Wednesday.
Moloi (33), who is also known for her role as Scarlet on SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy, and a close friend were then robbed at gunpoint.
Police spokesman Mack Mngomezulu confirmed the incident, saying it happened on Wednesday night (23 March) at around 8 o'clock.
"Four men entered the home. One of them was armed with a gun and another one had an axe on him. They broke into the house and robbed the victims of their belongings, including two cars which were parked outside.
"Both cars, a Nissan bakkie and a Mercedes Benz, were later found abandoned in Soweto on the same night. One was found in Zola near a supermarket and the other was found at a different location, also in Soweto," said Mngomezulu.
The model, who was introduced to mainstream media as the first black face of international cosmetics brand Elizabeth Arden, opened a case of armed robbery after the incident.
When Sunday World visited the starlet's home on Thursday, no one answered the door and it appeared vacant.
Residents of the quiet suburb, who described the mother of two as a bubbly individual, said they only saw police cars outside her home on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
One neighbour said: "The lovely lady who lives here left very early today with her friends. There were many police vans from last night but we didn't ask what was happening but it's very sad that she had to go through this."
The police said investigations were still under way and no arrests have been made.
Moloi was not available for comment.
SuperSport spokesman Clinton van der Berg, who was not aware of the incident at the time of the inquiry, said the station would offer her all the help she needed.
